Synthwave Sounds of the Summer 2015

Here comes the awesome old-school vintage Blade Runner-ish urban soundtrack of the month, mostly composed of synthwave, sometimes with vocals, always with style. Links and direct Bandcamp streaming included.

What is synthwave, would you ask? It’s a musical genre “heavily inspired by new wave and the soundtracks of many 1980s films, videogames, cartoons and television shows [wkp].” These albums are a personal selection of lesser known (no Carpenter Brut or Kavinsky here) but captivating creations, supported by powerfull artistic visions. You’ll find more on Bandcamp.

Music in April

April is here, let’s listen to some weird videogames-related metal and electro stuff! With Bandcamp links, as always.

♪♪♪♪* Miracle of SoundMetal UpA metal-ish multi-instrumental artist inspired by videogames universes. Quite fun!

♪♪♪♪* Makeup & Vanity SetWilderness. US electro/ambiance artist for moody days. Not really VGM, but close enough, though…

♪♪♪♪♪ Simon ViklundPayday2 DLCThis awesome electro hysterical track comes from the Jacket Character pack trailer for Payday 2, the heist simulation video game. My favorite track of the month by Simon Viklund, the artist who brought us the Bionic Commando Rearmed OST.

♪♪♪♪* Simon ViklundPayday 2 – The soundtrack. By Simon Viklund once again, nice electro/ambiance OST.

♪♪♪** DjCutmanVolume III. For chiptune and 8-bits lovers, remix of famous old school games. If you should listen to one track only, pick the Link’s Awakening’ Color Dungeon remix.

♪♪♪♪* PerturbatorDangerous Days. Electro artist who’s tracks have been selected for the Hotline Miami 2 OST.

♪♪♪** Thomas HappAxiom Verge. Well, this one is for the Amiga soundcard lovers, a quite specific audience range. They will now what to expect.
